PHONEATHON 2008
WNUR’s annual Phoneathon fundraiser is happening soon, from 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 21 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, February 28.
To get things started off right, we are having a kickoff show at Café Mud at 9 p.m. on Thursday, February 21 featuring Coltrane Motion and Lord of the Yum-Yum. Café Mud is located at 1936 Maple Avenue in Evanston.
We raise a little more than half of our entire operating budget during Phoneathon. This year’s goal is to raise $35,000. The money that we raise during this one week lasts the whole next year, going toward buying better equipment, planning better events and concerts, and developing better programming. Listener support, both emotionally and financially, is absolutely vital to our continued existence and high quality of content.
As a thank you to donors, we have a
variety of items called “premiums” that we send to listeners who
support us. They include CD’s and LP’s of new and old music,
posters, books, and the WNUR T-shirt for this year. You can pick the premiums
you would like to receive when you call to make a donation. You can browse our current
selection of premiums right here on our website.
Check back here soon for a
Phoneathon programming schedule so you can know when to tune into your favorite
show. We have lots of special guests and themed shows planned.
If you do not live in Chicagoland, you can stream WNUR live 24/7 right here on the website. The phone number to call to donate to us once Phoneathon begins is (847) 491-WNUR. That’s (847) 491-9687. Donations can be made by check or credit card, and all transactions take place on a secure server.
Please join us in celebrating independent radio and tune into WNUR during Phoneathon!
