Apoorva Khare is from Bhubaneswar, India. Under the tutelage of his guru, Sri Uma Charan Achari, he passed the Sangeet Visharad exam in Hindustani Vocal from the Bhatkhande School in 1997. He is pursuing a Ph.D. in the Mathematics department at the University of Chicago.
