This is the A-side from Kevin Dunn and the Regiment of Women’s 1981 7” on Armageddon Records. Dunn played in Atlanta group The Fans before striking out on his own in 1979, releasing the single “Nadine” which carried an earlier version of this song. DB Records, also based in Atlanta, put out that first 7” as well as some great singles of the fertile New Wave scene in nearby Athens: “Rock Lobster” by The B-52’s and “Cool” by Pylon, both co-produced by Dunn. It’s great that his own work, which calls to mind the better and more demented pop of the past decade like Of Montreal or Ariel Pink, has also seen something of a rediscovery in recent years. Last year saw the release of No Great Lost: Songs, 1979-1985, which collects much of his solo output, on Casa Nueva Records. Check it out!
