It's a very special week this week on the Jazz Show as we help the AACM
(the Association for the
Advancement of Creative Musicians) celebrate their 40th
Anniversary. All week you can tune in and the hear music of AACM
artists from 5am-12:30pm. Featured will be many early AACM
recordings, rare stuff, and some archived live performances and
interviews. The week will lead up to the 40th Anniversary Concert
on Sunday, May 8, 2005 at the Museum of Contemporary Art (220 E.
Chicago Ave) that will feature performances from Jodie Christian,
Reggie Nicholson, Ari Brown, Douglas Ewart, Mwata Bowden, Edward
Wilkerson, Oliver Lake, Rita Warford, Nicole Mitchell, James Newton,
Dee Alexander, George Lewis, Ann Ward, 8 Bold Souls, Fred Anderson,
Isaiah Jackson, Corey Wilkes, Vincent Davis, Art "Turk" Burton, and
Joseph Jarman.
So tune in anytime this week to 89.3 FM in Chicago or on the web at
www.wnur.org to hear music from one of the most important movements in
jazz.
