NEWS:
WNUR's
Phoneathon fundraiser begins this Wednesday, Feb. 16 and goes until
Tuesday the 22nd. This is an extremely important time at WNUR
when, for this one week out of the whole year, we ask our listeners to
consider giving back to the station. This pledge drive provides
us with half of our annual operating budget. Contrary to what you
might think, WNUR does not get all of its money from Northwestern
University, and it is essential that we raise funds through phoneathon
in order to continue staying on air with our unique programming.
Please,
please tune in to WNUR this week and help us out with a donation.
Any size pledge is welcome! Check out our premiums page for all
the cool stuff we can send you in return for your pledge. http://www.wnur.org/support/premiums/ If
you STILL aren't convinced, then please check out Ten Reasons to
Support WNUR Jazz: http://www.wnur.org/jazzshow/reports/TenReasons.html
Also,
I'd very graciously like to thank all the labels, promoters, and
artists who hooked us up with premiums for this year's
phoneathon. They include (but are not limited to): Thrill Jockey,
Delmark, Windy Planet, 9 Winds, Drimala, Okkadisk, Leo, Palmetto,
Sunnyside, CAM Jazz, Justin Time, Synergy Music, Flying Note, 482
Music,
Hyena, Greenleaf/Premonition, and all the others I may have
missed. Thanks so much!
Finally,
we are fortunate to have a special live recording from Tom McCarthy and
Luminance Ensemble live at 1020 Church St in Evanston from January 23,
2005. The show is part of a series and benefitted the Evanston
Community Developement Corportation. Check it out in its entirety
this Thursday at 9am.
Whew.
Have a great week!
