NEWS
- It's been a long time since the last WNUR Jazz Report. It was
nice hearing from people who missed them. Anyway, I'm still behind on
getting the CD's we've been sent into our collection and on the air,
but with this big batch of adds the situation is on the way to being
rectified. The weekly charts will resume next week, and I'll send out
monthly charts for July, August, and September too.
- Some special features that have aired over the past few months: an
interview with Australian alto player Bernie McGann; live duets by
reedsmen Wolfgang Fuchs and Ken Vandermark; an interview with organist
"Big" John Patton; an interview with Chicago percussionist and
bandleader Damon Short; an interview with Bay Area
composer/pianist/electronician Chris Brown; and a live performance by
saxophonist Jack Wright from Colorado, joined by Chicagoans Matt
Weston and Bob Marsh.
- We're now operating on our fall schedule; the schedule is
available at http://www.wnur.org/jazzshow/. Check
it to see when your favorite DJs are on.
- The Jazz Show is looking for substitute DJ's who would be
available to DJ shows (particularly 5-7am) from time to time when
regular DJ's have to miss shows. If you're in the Chicago area and
you're interested, contact our jazz producer, Mandi Isaacs, at jazz-producer@wnur.nwu.edu.
