NEWS
- We were pleased to welcome French bassist, vocalist,
improvisor, and composer Joelle Leandre to our studios this morning
for an interview and feature on her music conducted by DJ and fellow
bassist Josh Abrams. Leandre performs tonight at Unity Temple in
Oak Park solo and tomorrow night at the Empty Bottle in Chicago
solo and in duets with Fred Lonberg-Holm, Jim O'Rourke, and
Ken Vandermark.
- Frank Morgan performs this week, tonight through Sunday,
at the Jazz Showcase here in Chicago. His new CD,
Bop!, is near the top of our charts right now;
it's one of the strongest new mainstream dates to come our way
recently.
