GENERAL COMMENTS
- Slam is a new Chicago band that hybridizes elements of rock,
jazz, and funk. Member Mars Williams, reeds player from the NRG
Ensemble and Liquid Soul, will be in our studios at 11:00 am on
Thursday, October 10 for an on-air interview along with other members
of the group (Greg Suran (guitar), Kent Kessler (bass), and David
Suycott (drums)). We'll be playing cuts from an as yet unreleased
Slam recording at that time and throughout the week. Slam appear that
night at the Double Door in Wicker Park along with Broken Wire and
Cheer Accident. The concert at the Double Door is the first of a
monthly series of Thursday night concerts put together by Williams
that aims at attracting a crossover audience.
