GENERAL COMMENTS
- Seth Tisue will be away during the month of August. Jim Zanghi
will be handling music director duties during this time. As always,
you can reach us both at jazz-md@wnur.org
- Vandy Harris' live performance on WNUR has been postponed until
later this month.
NEW MUSIC COMMENTS
- The two new Emanem releases are previously unissued recordings.
A third release will be added next week.
- Steve Nelson-Raney's CD is solo saxophone improvisations.
- Joe Morris Ensemble consists of David S. Ware's old
quartet: William Parker (b), Mathew Shipp (p), and Whit
Dickey (d).
- William Parker's CD is the second of a 3 album "In Order to
Survive" series. Highly recommended.
- D.D. Jackson's release is an
eclectic mix of compositions some of which are fairly adventurous free
improvisations.
- The Scatter (European) and DAME (Canadian) releases
are two wildcards that defy genre, typical of these labels.
- Shaking Ray Levis will be in town at the Empty Bottle Aug. 21.
Quite adventurous and unique free improvisation.
- The new batch of Rhino compilations are real nice.
