Comments
- David S. Ware's Quartet will be in Chicago at the Empty Bottle
on Friday, Mar. 22. I hope my grandma doesn't die that weekend,
because I'll have to miss her funeral. This god-like quartet consists
of Ware (ts), William Parker (b), Matthew Shipp (p), & Whit Dickey
(d). Two Parker and two Shipp CD's are in the jazz rotation.
- The Wednesday jazz series at the Empty Bottle continues through
March. Consult Seth Tisue's New Music Live Web site for all cool
Chicago happenings: http://www.cs.nwu.edu/~tisue/shows.html.
- Josh & I are planning a Hat Art interview series. Tentatively
there will be as many as 8 artists and 4 interviewers. We hope to
broadcast one interview per week. Details to follow.
- Rick Wojcik interviewed legendary Chicago jazz singer Oscar
Brown, Jr. during his show this week (Wed, 9:30a-12:30p). Rick's the
DJ who plays loads of really groovin' records from the '60's and
'70's.
- For you early birds, check out Nicole's jazz vocals series on
Fridays, 5-6 am. She's focusing on all kinds of vocals from Billie
Holiday to Ken Nordine to Lynn Book and beyond.
