Swing

Roughly: 1932-40

The age of Swing was ushered in by Duke Ellington's recording of "It Don't Mean a Thing If It Ain't Got That Swing" in 1932. It was characterized by the big band sound; up tempo, horns a-blazin', and swingin' away 'til dawn. Bebop came on th= e heels of swing.
