I was born in January 1960 in Roermond, The Netherlands, I now live in Nijmegen. I studied Sociology & Music Psychology but found out I wanted to be a musician. I've played guitar since age 10; later on I started playing the piano as well. Everything I know and understand about music is self-taught. I write both music and lyrics. I played with local bands - the last one was Djam Karet, a five-piece jazz band with a female vocalist, tenor sax, bass, guitar and drums.
My favourite artists at the moment, vocalists mainly, are Abbey Lincoln, Dianne Reeves, Marisa Monte, Diana Krall and Cassandra Wilson. I'm very fond of Chet Baker as a singer too.
