Introduction
At present, this document is not much more than an incomplete list of
albums in which Jan Garbarek appears. The list is separated into
albums "led" by Garbarek and those where he is more an accompanist
(admittedly, the distinction isn't always clear-cut). In each case,
album order is approximately chronological. The intention is that
each album entry will be accompanied by discographic details and
perhaps even a review. See the "Eventyr" entry for an example of a
suggested review layout.
I've received copies of a couple of other (plain text) Garbarek
discographies, one developed by Mr. Sudo, which I've incorporated
here, and a considerably more
comprehensive list by Johann Haidenbauer, which I've not yet
incorporated.
Unless stated otherwise, all reviews and opinions stated herein must
be assumed to be mine. Interpret my opinions
as you will, but I won't accept responsibility if as a result of
reading them you buy an album that you wish you hadn't!
To see further details about a particular album (catalogue number,
line-up, track listing, comments) follow its link. (If there's no
link, then there's no more info at present).
Provisos:
- List entries ending with "(*)" below have links to personnel and/or
track listings but no review information;
- List entries ending with
"(**)" below have no additional information besides the catalogue
number and recording date. Hopefully these stars will die out one by
one on non-galactic timescales. I do have the albums, I just haven't
got round to putting the details in yet.
- Entries marked "(***)" are albums
that I have not yet heard, so it might be longer before they receive
comments.
