ESG: A South Bronx Story (Universal Sound, 2000)

Today’s track of the day arrives courtesy of Rock Show Producer Harlynn. Here’s what she has to say about her pick:

ESG, which stands for Emerald, Sapphire, and Gold, are the Scroggins sisters. Emerging from the South Bronx in the late 70s to make a name for themselves in the post-punk world, ESG is immortalized through bands’ samplings of their work. Going on what they said would be their final tour in 2012 the chance of seeing them perform live today is slim, but, known for their complex rhythms and majestically funky bass lines, ESG are a bunch of rocking ladies who won’t be forgotten.
