WNUR.org is looking for current Northwestern students interested in contributing to the site for this quarter and beyond. One of our big goals for the quarter is to expand the scope of our offerings in both written and multimedia content, and we can’t do that without some help. The time commitment can be as big or small as you want it to be—whether you want to contribute on a weekly or quarterly basis, we’re happy to work with your schedule.

Here’s some of what we’re looking for:

Long-form content! Reviews, features, interviews, essays, you name it. Until now, there hasn’t been a home on-campus for meaningful, intelligent music writing. That’s gonna change. We want to put out both journalism and criticism, so feel free to apply regardless of your particular interests as a writer. No previous experience required, but you should probably know at least a little about music and a little about writing.

If you’re the kind of person who can’t go to a show without a DSLR hanging from his/her neck, we want you! We want to feature dynamic, interesting photography on the site, so let us know if you’re interested.

In collaboration with our friends at Airplay, we intend to start filming live sets by bands in the WNUR studio. If you’ve ever wanted hands-on experience filming live musical performances, here’s your chance. We’ve already got the equipment—we just need a few willing participants to help with production. Past experience with video stuff is a plus, but the cameras we use are pretty foolproof, so any interested students are welcome. Airplay does a lot of stuff on Saturdays, so availability on Saturdays is also a plus. We’d like to do our first shoot this Saturday, so let us know ASAP if that’s something you’re interested in. We’re also open to other kinds of video content–let us know if you’ve got any ideas.

After the jump, details on how to apply.

AREA(S) OF INTEREST (Writing? Photography? Video? Something else not mentioned here? Be specific about what you want to do!):

RELEVANT PRIOR EXPERIENCE (Like we said, not a requirement, but it helps us know where you’re coming from—can also include links to previously published works):

There’s no deadline on any of this stuff, but the sooner you get back to us, the sooner we can get started. If you’ve got any questions, please direct them to editor@wnur.org as well.
