WNUR Alumni Organization Awards Third Annual Willis L. Butler Leadership Prize
2003 Leadership Award Recipient Mark Bowden,
General Manager 2002-03 and
Junior (class of 04)
in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences
Mark Bowden is the 2003 winner of the Willis L. Butler
Leadership Prize. Sponsored by the WNUR Alumni Organization,
this award is given annually to the staff member who has most
exhibited leadership at the station during the past year.
A Junior in WCAS, Mark has been the
station's General Manager during 2002-03 and has exhibited
leadership in overseeing the 2nd Annual Chicago Sounds
Jazzfestival, a record-setting Phoneathon season, the further
development of the station's upcoming CD release, and continued
cultural, public affairs, news, and sports programming
successes. The station and individual work at WNUR has been
recognized numerous times by external awards which help ratify
the excellence of the work and experience at WNUR.
Mark has assembled an outstanding leadership
team on the executive board which has worked in a collaborative
and productive manner to help the station and the individuals
involved achieve success and personal growth.
The Willis L. Butler Leadership prize is
funded by alumni contributions and is awarded upon nomination by
the student executive board and the faculty advisor. This is the
third annual awarding of the prize.
Mark will receive recognition of his
achievement at the School of Communication Honors Convocation on
May 21st.
