COMMUNICATION COMMITTEE
Provides the Organization with
public relations and publicity services--working with NU

MENTORING COMMITTEE
The Mentoring Committee will work to
assist WNUR students in obtaining career guidance and
advice from working professionals in their fields of
interest. Some activities will include
"shadowing" professionals in their jobs for a
day or two, one-on-one counseling, arranging facilities
tours, and bringing guest speakers to WNUR
staff/department meetings. In addition, an internship
program for WNUR student staff members is being
considered.

MEMBERSHIP & NOMINATING COMMITTEE
Nominations for Officer, Committee
Chair, and Board positions will be compiled and
presented by this Committee. In addition, the Committee
will work (with help from the Communications Committee)
to identify WNUR alumni, collect old WNUR staff lists to
help us expand our membership database, and
"feed" names to the regional committee chairs.
Attention, Retirees: This Committee is looking for at
least one '50's graduate who can launch an outreach
program for our earliest alumni.

JOB POSTING/CAREER DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
The Committee's goal is to match
WNUR staffers, past and present, with the jobs and
internships that exist in the market. Using as its base
the JobFile produced for the Illinois News Broadcasters
Association and the Chicago Headline Club/SPJ, the
Committee eventually will expand its reach to list job
openings throughout the industry and to post the resumes
of those seeking employment. Working with the Mentoring
Committee, this Committee also guides WNUR staffers in
preparing audition materials through in-service seminars
and presentations.

INTERNET/NEW MEDIA COMMITTEE
The Committee operates and develops
the WNUR Alumni website as a primary means of
communication for the Organization. New pages will be
developed with input from officers and other Committees.
The Committee also sets up and operates an Internet
"chat room" to enable all Governing Board
members to participate in meetings, regardless of their
location. Development of a permanent alumni "chat
room" and other e-media ideas also are being
investigated.

ARCHIVES/HISTORY COMMITTEE
The committee seeks and identifies
significant historical materials associated with WNUR--primarily
program audio--and develops methods for cataloging,
storage, and access. Photographs and objects related to
the station also will be considered for inclusion.
Ultimately, a catalog and retrieval system will be
developed and implemented, with Internet access to
selected audio materials.
